At SCS Logistics, we recently coordinated the transport of 12 Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) units to a project site near Hamburg, Germany. Each unit weighed an impressive 42 tons, requiring specialized equipment, heavy-lift coordination, and detailed planning to ensure a safe and efficient delivery.
These BESS units form a crucial part of a large-scale energy storage installation, supporting grid stability and renewable power integration in the region. Due to their size, weight, and technical configuration, the transport involved heavy-duty trailers, certified lifting teams, and strict compliance with European safety regulations.
Our role included route planning, timing coordination, communication with the site crew, and ensuring all transports were carried out with the required oversize load permits. On-site, the units were lifted into position using a high-capacity mobile crane, executed in close cooperation with the installation team.
